Uhhh... Gunn Peak?

If this is the peak you saw from Forest Road 62, or even Highway 2, then this is almost certainly "Gunnshy" not Gunn Peak. Gunn Peak does not look anything like this from the west or southwest. "Gunnshy" is the prominent-looking peak seen from the west and southwest, commonly mistaken as Gunn Peak. This is because there is only a 32' elevation difference between the two peaks. Gunn Peak is generally hidden from view from the west and southwest because of this (except from atop nearby tall peaks).

This looks to be "Gunnshy", with the upper slopes of Jumpoff Ridge seen to its left (north) in this photo.

Re: Uhhh... Gunn Peak?

I did some research myself before posting this photo. I eventually gave up figuring this was a part of Gunn Peak and that perhaps Gunnshy was a nick name google maps gave it. Well I changed the title and here is the last piece of proof I needed. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Uhhh... Gunn Peak?

No problem. I climbed Gunn Peak last year, and plan to possibly go back this year for "Gunnshy" and "Tailgunner", possibly Merchant Peak as well.

Great photos, all the same, Josh!
