Haflinger Mountain Horse

Haflinger Mountain Horse

This is a mountain horse, to be specific, it is a Cold-Blood horse, Haflinger. This one was working for farmers who made this very good cheese out of goat/sheep milk and then smoking it. This cheese is called Oscypek. This little farm was located in the Tatra Mountains and not to far away from Rysy and Orla Perc summits.

Re: that is

okay, i thought it was a haflinger because of the coloration. Once your wife figures out what breed it is can you tell me? :) When i am not in the mountains i horseback ride, does your wife too?
Thanks for your comment,

Re: that is

Wiktoria, I trust you are right about the kind of horse...I meant to say "funny built"...just meaning that a haflinger looks funny, particulary how they are built in the rear end...not like most horses...made more for hard work I guess..yes my wife rides everyday....she trains horses and riders full time in dressage...huge holsteiner warmbloods....we have a new colt...born in May...takes 4 years before you really even start riding them! I am an old cowboy and use to cheap quarter horses for cutting and roping...but my family also raised and trained standard breds for the track....I don't think racing is very humane though...even though it is fun to watch...cheers

Re: that is

okay, it so cool that your wife rides so much! That is all very interesting. What color/breed/name is your colt?

Re: that is

Frisco Bay is his name, we just call him Frisco...huge boy already (german westphalian)...he is technically called a black bay...coolest thing is a white "sea horse" mark on his forehead....he has two stockings and a sock as well...hard not to spoil him, my wife has to correct me all the time...can't spoil an animal that big for sure. Here is a photo of his mother in the Canadian Rockies.
