Milestone  Sucess!

Went up on a weekday a few years before the permits came down. Most exhausting, and rewarding, hike I've ever done. Perfect weather. Will never forget the moonscape of the summit, nor looking down from the top of the cables for the first time, and the click, clack, clock of water bottles falling from climbers' packs down the granite below...

Many different ascents  Sucess!

Snake Dike in November was maybe the most memorable. Up the cables on so many glorious occasions. Never gets old.

Shoes are everything  Sucess!

Got an early start from our campground in the valley. Really enjoyed the cables. Views were smoky. Hot day, drank 3L of water and had to filter on the way down. My shoes were a little too big and my feet were ready to be done!

High Snowmelt, Memorable Hike  Sucess!

Perfect conditions. Weather in the 70s, clear skies, raging waterfalls from high snowmelt and relatively few crowds. Half Dome did not disappoint. Went up the John Muir Trail then down the Mist Trail. We got soaked below Vernal Falls. Also saw a bear 25 feet away from the trail below the Sub Dome.

Yay!  Sucess!

Was in Yosemite for a couple of days with my girlfriend and had one day to myself, so started early. I was going pretty fast, reached the top in 4hrs and ran down in 2hrs. 6 hrs end to end. Was pretty happy with myself.

Half Dome  Sucess!

Climbed twice, once in spring and also in September 2008. It was most amazing in spring when the waterfalls are filled with water and mist.

with the cables down  Sucess!

Really not too hard to do with a good pair of "grabby" gloves and mostly worn out hiking boots. Didn't really need prusics although some used them.
It's truly a wonderful climb, the falls are amazing, but I can completely understand why Norman Clyde stayed out of Yosemite Valley. On the other hand, I can also understand why the crowds show up here.
Only about 10 people on top this day.
Waited 3 1/2 hrs. for the trail crew to remove the cables, midday. They were supposedly going to do this yesterday, Oct.11.

Mist Trail and cables  Sucess!

Stunning beauty along the Mist Trail up and down. We started early and there were only a few other people on the cables. Full report here.

Trifecta   Sucess!

First ascent was a day hike from Happy Isles TH. My second Half-Dome ascent occurred during a multi-day backpacking trek through Yosemite. On July 15, 2015, I ascended Half-Dome, Yosemite' most recognizable landmark for the third time. I'm so close, why knot? LOL The route is definitely not for individuals suffering from acrophobia. During my descent, I encountered a young man donning a huge backpack. Asked why he didn't leave his pack on the saddle, he replied his pack contained wedding attire for his fiancee and himself. Yes, a wedding occurred atop Half-Dome that day. A professional photographer posted the wedding pictures on the Internet.

Easy hike up standard route.  Sucess!

Got to the top in time for some scattered thunderstorms, everybody hurried down the cables.

Success on Half Dome!  Sucess!

Stayed at Camp 4, met people from around the world then hiked up Half Dome. I suggest taking the Mist Trail for its sheer beauty. I was surprised at how steep it was on the cables but I cruised right up. Not many climbers (a Friday in October) to get in my way. Weather was perfect, views were spectacular. All those steps are rough on the knees but it was definitely worth it. Yosemite is amazing!

Left from Little Yosemite Camp at 4:30, summit at 6:40 and watched a spectacular sunrise. A wonderful experience going up by headlamp.

Life changing hike  Sucess!

After hearing about Half Dome for years, I finally made it up to Yosemite for my first major hike. The weather nice in the valley, but windy going up the cables. Once on top, the winds died down and I stayed for an hour soaking in the great views. I've been hooked on hiking and the outdoors ever since.

Accomlishment  Sucess!

This was my first real hike in Yosemite, taking the Yosemite Valley route up and the Happy Isles route down. Breathtaking views from the top, and loved the entire experience in general.
