Unique, beautiful winter hike  Sucess!

We went up Seongpanak and down Gwaneumsa. Very slippery on the way down, crampons of some sort are extremely recommended, as well as a trekking pole. Completely socked in until about 1:10 (summit closes at 1:30 and you have to head down). Then opened up and was beautiful!! Very busy trail even in the middle of winter. Took us 9 hours round trip. Bring snacks and water, nowhere to get more. Toilets at several points. Harder hike than I expected, but definitely doable and so worth it!

Amazing day trip   Sucess!

It’s an easy walk. It was pretty windy and too many clouds to see the view. Weather conditions changed rapidly, but still a nice walk. We did it in 6 hours to the summit and back.

cloudy November day  Sucess!

Amazing this mountain has only one previous entry in the summit log! It is a very popular peak and a country highpoint no less. There must have been at least a thousand people (mostly Koreans) when I visited one weekend in November.

I hiked the Eorimok trail on Saturday. The next day I also hiked the Seongpanak trail.

Mountain swimming  Sucess!

Got to Jeju island in the midst of a typhoon. Constant heavy downpour made the walk up Halla feel like watersports. I've never experienced so much rain in my lifetime.
