Hanoa Crater

Hanoa Crater

Hanoa Crater is about 200 feet deep (depending on where you measure from). Like most or all of the craters on this, the second-oldest volcanic massif on the Big Island after the Kohala Mountains, the flat bottom is grass-covered. This is in stark contrast to Mauna Loa to the east where one is hard pressed to find any grass anywhere. March 3, 2007.
