Hot SpotsSo you've really seen'em all while I just translated some texts about them. It's about time you moved north. :)

Re: Hot Spots...You say the "people of the blue-green water"
dump their sewage into Havasu Creek?
I thought the "floods of 1997" were instrumental in "flushing" out that waterway,
but seems you have a valid point by not going
in the water.
You don't want to move south to Mexico ???

Re: Hot Spots...Hi Larry, no, no Mexico for me... me no gusta hablar mexicano...haha

Re: Hot SpotsAhoj Liba,
Quite a few National Geographic articles. As to Havasu, I hadn't been aware of the existence of this 'oasis' and its falls until I got that text to work on. Talking of home, I wonder if you could browse your files for some pix :) of the Moravian karst, Podyji NP or Šumava, which are virtually missing from SP (there's probably only one).

Re: Hot SpotsI have a lot of old photos from Podyji and Moravian Karst - my house is located between those 2, and less than 3/4 hr drive to each of those places. Thanks for the idea Jacek...sometimes people think that things close to them are not as precious...

Re: Hot SpotsRight, Liba, not a wilderness like what's close to your today's home; still a great place (I've visited the caves, and the sinkhole of Macocha; haven't seen the Dyje valley though), kind of epicentre of CE Europe :), the old capital cities nearby, and now that the border has virtually vanished the Alps in the backyard - not bad!

Re: Hot SpotsYes, I am thinking to live there for a part of a year (inherited a house), and you are right - Alps in the backyard, about 1.5 hr drive (depending on the traffic around Vienna). Very nice in the summer, kind of depressing in the winter.

Re: Hot SpotsI see you have it all, Liba! The vineyard as well?:) Yep, those grey winters looking like autumn, that's depressing. Still, there's an airport nearby, plus that great beery climbing gym!:D

Re: Hot SpotsJacek, you have a good memory. I was planning to spend some time in that climbing gym and drink beer or 2 between the climbs.
Yes, my family owns big vineyards....
Wondering, whether you can smoke pot in Amsterdam climbing gyms?

It must be changing every year. When I was there in December 2006, the "flowing walls" had a very different appearance. I wonder if they have dramatic mud flows every spring.

Re: It must be changing every year.I don't know, but the flood of 2008, was a big one. I think that even the village had to be evacuated.

HavasuI have got to visit this location at least once in my lifetime! The colors are amazing.

Re: HavasuI hope it will happen, and you will visit soon. The hike into the canyon is one of the easiest hikes in Grand Canyon, not too steep.
