Hikers are struggling to climb up at the Cable. Below that is the Trail Camp.

Wow! Cables...

I've never been there. The picture doesn't make this stretch look that dangerous. Is it?

They're not cables like the cables up Half Dome. Instead, it is basically a cable railing along a small stretch of the switchback portion of the climb above Trail Camp. During the summer, this part of the trail tends to be icey, which is why it is there.

Because many hikers didn't bring their snowshoes, or crampon. Many were turned back after this section because of the deep snow.
