Found this:
The highest rock faces: Mt.Rosa east face: 2400m, Eiger north face: 1800m, Watzmann east face: 1700m, Rinderhorn south face (Kandersteg): 1500m, Birnhorn south face (Pinzgau): 1500m, Sorapis west face: 1500m, Mt.Agner north face: 1500m, Triglav north face: 1500m, Schermberg north face (Totes Gebirge): 1400m, Matterhorn south face: 1200m, Cimon-della-Pala west face: 1200m, Zugspitze north face: 1100m, Civetta west face: 1100m, Hochkoenig south face: 1000m, Langkofel east face: 1000m, Dachstein south face: 900m, Schrammacher west face (Tux Alps): 900m, Schneibstein north face (Hagen Mountains): 900m.
These lists do not claim to be complete!
Hochstadel and Marmolada aren't even in there but Dachstein is discredited with "only" 900m
Wow Gangolf! All your photos lately have been awesome! Wonderful job again! Have a good one!

Thanks, Britt. Glad you liked the pictures. I have been fooling around with a polarization filter lately so that maybe accounts for the better quality of some of the pictures. But sun and clouds and a good camere help, too.
Another excellent looking peak Gangolf - good work!
Have a great day.....

Thanks Joseph. The surrounding mountain range is simply great. "Unholde" it is called locally, fiends, which according to ledgend have been turned to stone some way or the other. You can see why they tickle the iamiganation, don't you?
Complete, and well-written page, as one comes to expect from you. That 1300 m north face sounds very interesting. Many good pictures form a nice potrait of this mountain. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for vote and corrections. I think Livio is a little frustrated. You are much faster than he is ...
.... on the other hand I always put in some typos, so I won't disappoint you, too ;-)

Thanks Vid. I don't know what I should do about the highest faces of the eastern Alps! I found one listing (see my comment to Mathias vote) and Hochstadel wasn't even in there! Triglav was, however and I think it just depend what you count. Only north faces? Only vertical north faces? All faces? Only rock faces? I'll mention Triglav in there somewhere but have to think how and where.
Another great page Gangolf, you relentless human hyper productive machine :-) Wow, I'm amazed with your will, productivity and quality that you maintain all the time!

Thanks Aleksandar. Mathias said somewhere that he thinks SP is like an enceclopedia of mountains. I think so, too and I'm trying to do my share (perhaps a bit more ;-)). Some mountains I like better than others and this one is one of them!
I agree Gangolf! I viewed SP that way since I came here, over 2.5 years ago, and SP should be home only for quality pages and photos but as you said this is internet and it will never be perfect but we are quite close :-) Just keep up the great work you are doing! But don't forget to rest and hike in the mean time :-)

I would like to hike - today. Bit it has started to rain again :-( It could have been so beautiful with all the fall foiliage - the cherry tree in my garden has just turned all colours simultaneously. I suppose I'll get outside to the orchards around town as soon as this infernal rain stops...
Weather is terrible here too Gangolf and I'm sick of it already. I managed only 2 trips on Velebit during whole autumn! Weekend after weekend weather is shity. South wind all the time, very strong today, is bringing moisture and mountains are in the clouds, atmosphere dull and depressing. I'm wondering how blue sky looks already. Thankfully I saw it last weekend in the Alps. Anyway have a nice weekend too. Monday is holiday so maybe weather will show some mercy till then! :-)

Untitled CommentAdded a section about climbing the north face. It is incomplete but the basic info is there.
Forgot about Alm: should be alp, meadow, pasture
