Hochwilde Haus

A fine alpine hut at 2866m, deep in the Gurgler Valley. Very hospitable, and excellent food! From Obergurgl, Austria, you can hike to the hut and back in a long day via the Langtalereck Hütte (2430m). You can make it a bit more interesting and visit a third hut by returning via the Ramolhaus (3006m), but that makes for a very long day. The hut is named after the Hochwilde and it's perfectly located for the northern ascent. We traversed the Hochwilde this day, starting on the Italian side. 10 July 2008.
