Hooker's Balsamroot

Hooker's balsamroot (Balsamorhiza hookeri var. hispidula) grows in rocky, sage and cool desert habitats from the Snake River Plain to Nevada and Utah. Other varieties of this species grow in other dry habitats of the west. This photo was taken in the Owyhee Mountains of Idaho. May 2004
