A representative view of the 4WD road in the vicinity of Hinakapoula (5,842 ft) low on the approach to Hualalai, which is still about six miles away at this point. The road is steep and rutted for the initial bit but levels off after Hinakapoula. March 3, 2007.

Road Quality

I noticed that the quality of the road maintenance correlates with the presence of the power lines. You can tell at this point they at least make an attempt to grade it. Perhaps the worst point is just prior to the sheep station where there is a steep decline over loose gravel. I slipped on that part and picked up a hiking stick thereafter.
