Huffaker Mountain Benchmark (WA)

Huffaker Mountain Benchmark (WA)

Huffaker Mountain ranks #98 on the Washington State prominence list (see list here) Although it is only 3660 feet high, it has 2360 feet of prominence. Sandwiched in between Mt. Rainier to the north and Mt. St. Helens to the south, this little mountain isn't much to notice but since it is a peak with prominence, it does attract those (like myself) who are chasing the prominence peaks. Interestingly enough, the benchmark is not located on the summit or highest point but is about 1/5th of a mile away and probably a hundred feet lower. See here for more information and a map. This mountain was visited by myself and Bob Bolton and his wife on April 30, 2006
