Lovely Peak. Beautiful approach with all the waterfalls.
It's great to see all that snow still up there. Snow the whole way from the lake up to the ridge. I climbed straight up the gut of the bowl using an ax and kicking steps. The glissade down was really fun.
Fun hike with alex, beautiful waterfalls and great view of surrounding ranges. If you live in Bozeman there is no excuses not to.
Nice climb. We went later so we could watch the sunset on top of the peak. It was a long hike out in the dark
i was with vcrewpc06! great trip, highly recommended
I did the 2005 Devil's Backbone 50 miler as a relay with my college friend Michael Wunsch. I did the first 25 mile leg and had to tag the top of this peak before continuing on the run.
After summiting Hyalite Peak, traversed west around the ridge to Divide Peak and met up with the Squaw Creek trail to make a loop out of it. Some challenging terrain, but the scenery was more than worth it. Beautiful area.
This is one of my favorite hikes. Easy grade through beautiful forests. There are numerous waterfalls along the trail.
I first went up the trail in late May, 2004. There was snow on a good part of the trail. Turned back halfway up the switchbacks to the saddle as I was wearing tennis shoes, which naturally offered no traction at all on the steep snow.
Went back in July, 2005 for a snow-free hike to the top.
This was one of my first summits in Montana. Have been up several times since on runs, hikes, etc.
I ran this trail twice while training for the Bridger Ridge Run. I've been up there many times, hiking, climbing ice, biking.
Excellent hike and scenery
It was a beatiful hike. Lots of wildflowers. The only thing bad were the hordes of mosqitoes!
