Coral Hedgehog

A nifty "icicle" formation, growing from the trunk of a fir on the Webster Cliff Trail. I'm told this is Hericium coralloides, the Coral Hedgehog. To me it resembles the "coral mushroom" family (Clavariacae), but it's classified in the Hericiaceae (spiny mushrooms). September 2006
