Johnson Canyon

Johnson Canyon

Walls in Johnson Canyon. Dinosaur National Monument is a climbing and hiking paradise, but few people frequent the area save rafters.

Johnson Canyon?

Hi Scott,

How far down did you get in Johnson Canyon? I'm thinking of venturing down from the Mantle Ranch Rd and while it looks like it goes, I'm wondering if it doesn't cliff out closer to the river.

Thanks,

Soren.

Re: Johnson Canyon?

Johnson Canyon is walkable to the river. You can go own Johnson and up Bull Canyon.

Keep a close eye at the overhangs in Johnson Canyon and there are scattered pictographs.

johnson

thanks Scott. We did the Johnson/Bull loop last weekend. Great trek, lots of artifacts/glyphs/graphs and plenty of solitude. Good stuff.

Indeed, that's true...

Have two buddies rafting there as we speak.
