Western Brreach

Hi,
I´ve been wanting to climb Kili via the western breach for a couple years but have found NO AGENCY who will agree on doing it. Would you be so kind as to tell me whom you contacted to do it?
Thank you very much,
Nestor Rial

Re: Western Brreach

Hello Nestor,

As mentioned in the Trip Report we contacted www.wildfrontiers.com, an agency that had been recommended in 2002 by friends from South Africa. They were very helpful and MUCH CHEAPER than booking thru any US or European operators. Just contact them by email or phone and they will arrange everything for you. Ask for the manager if the clerks give you a hard time.

It is possible that the Western Breach might still be closed because a few years ago (after our trip) there was a rock slide and it was consequently closed. Another option to consider might be the Machame route, but by all means AVOID the Marangu ("Coca-cola") route except for the descent. The trail is 52 km long and the best views are on the UMBWE or Machame side of the mountain.

Lots of luck
