Kinnikinnick (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi)

Kinnikinnick, also known as bearberry is widespread in moderately moist to dry forests across all of Canada and Alaska, south to much of the U.S. It is also in Eurasia. It forms a very dense ground cover with thick evergreem leaves and is highly valued as ground cover in landscaping. Photo from Lenore, Idaho. April 1995
