Kruzgamepa Christmas

Kruzgamepa Christmas

Large 20th-century church, built near the Kruzgamepa River on western Alaska's Seward Peninsula. It's location gained prominence because of its thermal hot springs, making early settlement possible. After Nome's flu epidemic of 1918, the church housed orphans who lost their parents and other family members in the epidemic. It closed in 1941, but the church survives today as a reminder that giving to others will always survive the testimonial of time. Directly below the steeple, the engraved letters "IHS" are clearly visible; perhaps a monogram for the (Latin) "Iesus Hominum Salvator" meaning "Jesus Savior of Mankind." Merry Christmas and Happy 2017 !

Re: Have a very

Hey man, you're still young. If you haven't been already, be sure you have Alaska on your itinerary, or at least on your bucket list.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful WA Cascades
images, and have a wonderful holiday season.
