Laguna Tararhua

... at the end of Quebrada Rurec. We're coming down from Uruashraju, and I wished we had made camp here because I was tired. Instead, it was on the other side of the lateral moraine ridge that borders the northeast side of the lake (visible on the right in this photo). It was the spot that our mule driver had picked out, and since it was our first visit here, we assumed he knew the best place for it. And, I have to admit, not only was it a beautiful site, with a small mountain stream running through our camp, more importantly, there was grass to eat for our mules. In contrast, there was no food for them at the shores of the lake - just rocks. 19 July 2011.
