Lance Armstrong, in the Leader's Yellow Jersey, crosses Roan Mtn. at Craver's Gap in the 1996 Tour DuPont. This was the Bristrol, TN to Beech Mountain, NC stage. Lance continued on to win the 1996 US Tour DuPont. This race may have been what set his ambitions and goals for winning the Tour de France. You'll have to ask Lance about that.

Roan Moan.

The Roan Moan bicycle ride ascends roan mtn also,it leaves from Bakersville NC. Great ride, great scenery, and great descents.
