long way there  Sucess!

started this hike at the Laramie Peak Boy Scout Camp where I worked in the summer of 1988. Five days and 50 miles round trip took me backpacking around and to the top of this great mountain

All for Jesus...  Sucess!

What a blast this time was! I was fortunate to lead a group of young men to the summit. We started at 2:30 a.m. to try and hit the sunrise. We reached the top four hours later, and were a little late for the sunrise, but it was beautiful none the less! All four of us officially summited, climbing the chain up the chimney to the official summit rock, that part was flippin sweet. I was joined by Danny Meeboer, Brendon Mount, and Jordan Harms. Praise God for an awesome adventure.

Route Climbed: I think the one and only route?? lol Laramie Peak Trailhead Date Climbed: July 16, 2005  Sucess!

Was proven how out of shape this lowlander is. 4.75 hour hike up; 2.5 to 3 hours down, plus a sprained ankle on the way down (but this Energizer hiker kept the boot on and kept on hiking).

The last mile or so to the top is steep and full of often loose rocks. The top is magnificent, yet crazy. I have a bit of vertigo and, being alone, I couldn't quite make myself go to the helicopter pad. >8-O But I did climb on rocks some. Had a view to Elk Mountain to the south in Medicine Bow National Forest's Snowy Range.

I guestimated the trail at 5 miles, looking at signs. Someone hiking with a pedometer said it was 5.25.

Lotsa manmade towers on top good for calling folks back home to say I was on top of mt. LOL! Geez, I hadn't even seen a western mountain since 2000!!! I enjoyed it, despite the heavy breathing. lol

Oh yeah, the Friend Park Campground was $10, if I remember right, for me and my tent, arriving around 11 p.m. and hiking at 8 a.m.

A killer hike for a measly 3.5 miles to the top. But the view (and the helicopter pad) made the hike worthwhile. A great trail to try in the winter, too. Don't get your car stuck.

I climbed this peak in the changing aspens with my beautiful wife-to-be. The climb was refreshing and the views were spectacular. I cannot wait to climb this with Alex Wann and three others in December.

I climbed for a good two hours after dark and made camp a little over half way up the mountain. This was my first solo ascent, and well worth it! The next morning I summitted at about 7:15.
