A bit long winded with, perhaps, too much detail. I also have to say that there's nowhere on the S Spur route that the gradient is more than 30°. If you really encountered 40-50° slopes, you must have been seriously off route which, judging from your description, you weren't.
yeah we were only on the south spur, so it just seemed more thatn 30 degrees :)

The Degreeyeah we were only on the south spur, so it just seemed more thatn 30 degrees :)
