Did as part of a traverse; Little Haystack, Lincoln, then Lafayette.
Came over from Lincoln and Lafayette as I did the loop up Bridle path and down Falling Waters. Started at 0530, so avoided the crowds during most of the hike. Great weather and actually a bit cold in spots.
Climbed in July 2010.
The waterfalls were beautiful covered in snow and ice. Perfect clear weather at the top, but windy and cold.
Steep trail to the summit
Luckily we reached this summit before the clouds rolled in and obstructed all views.
Did this mountain as part of the Franconia Ridge loop; an 8.9 mile trail over 6 summits. Cold, icy, very windy, exhausting, but exhilarating with excellent views of the Pemigewasset Wilderness when the weather is clear.
Ran and Hiked up the Falling Waters Trail on the way to Lafayette and down the Old Bridal path. Absolutely beautiful - loved the Falling Waters trail!
Climbed this in the morning after summitting Mt. Liberty. There were a ton of bugs up here, so many so, that the back of my shirt was literally covered with hundreds of them. We quickly moved on from here.
My girlfriend and I set off on the Falling Waters trail around 6am, arriving at the summit of Little Haystack around 9:30am. From there we traversed the ridge to the summit of Mount Lincoln. From Lincoln we set off for the summit of Mount Lafayette around 12:15pm. We had zero visibility all day above treeline, making it tough to navigate certain sections and gauge how far we had to go. We finally have top of the line gear, except that my new new-matic BD sabretooth crampons kept popping off my Koflach arctis expe boots. After the 4th time they came off I switched to my hybrid crampons and life was swell. Took the Bridal Veil Falls trail 2.9 miles back to the trailhead, arriving around 3pm. Great day.
nice little ridge hike
Nice spot for views and rest, on to the 4's, Lincoln and Lafayette
Awesome hike across the ridge!
did the Garfield to flume!
Franconia traverse. Grey and misty but nice to be up there....
Climbed it between Liberty and Lincoln while I was doing a ridge traverse. The first time I did the ridge traverse was sometime in 2009.
Summit #3 on a sweet traverse from Flume to Garfield.
Hiked the classic Little Haystack, Lincoln, Lafayette. The first time was cloudy and rainy. Did it a little under a year later and was graced with a perfect day with almost no crowds.
Did a Pemi Loop over 2.5 days with a couple of friends. Going counter clockwise, camped at Guyot and Garfield tent sites. Saw an awesome lightning over a town to the north storm from Garfield; got hailed on in a lightning storm on the way out on the last day. Had a bottle of Bowmore with us.
Awesome up there... freezing cold and whipping winds.
