Looking west with the observatory tower on the right and Clay and Jefferson below. Even farther in the distance you can see Cherry Mountain. June 2005.

picture votes.....long lasting problem !

I've been following the thread about this. Don't be upset.

This pic gives a somewhat "touristic-informative" opinion about Mt Washington, together with other aspects. Mountaineering is not ALL the mountains significations and symbols. One must also know everything about it, even what is dull or less linked to pure climbind/hiking activities. Your pictures simply say : this is how Mt Washington's top is today. And it is useful. As for an example, Mt Aigoual (southern France) is crowned by a XIX th century built observatory, with aerials, posts, etc...But the solitude of the place is magnificent, with great views and plenty of tours available around, and the artificial features stand like an old castle ...Cheers !

Thanks so much Claude! You're exactly right. You have to take the good with the bad on mountains such as this and in my opinion, even the man made things are a big part of what makes this mountain so popular today even though that's not my favorite part. Thanks so much for your comments and take care!
