Kris and I made it to the parking area on the south side of Route 89 near Inspiration Point by 6:20 AM (sunrise 6:35 AM). We first walked to Inspiration Point on the north side of the road to get great views of Lake Tahoe’s Emerald Bay and Fannette Island.

We then went back to the south side and got on the trail. They were doing construction at the actual trailhead. That is why we had to park off the road. The trail went into the forest and began to go up in elevation. We finally got views of the lake.

We were then at the level of the 7660 ft Granite Lake which was a short distance away from the trail. Some people had camped there. Kris said he was not going to go any more. I continued up.

Below the summit, the trail kind of faded away.

I reached the summit at 8:17 AM. It was a rocky boulder covered area with vegetation that obstructed some of the views.

It looked like a flatter boulder covered area 75 vertical feet below the summit might provide better views, so I went there to eat rest and enjoy the views. Lake Tahoe plus Cascade and Granite Lakes.
