Martin Busch Hütte

This is a popular alpine refuge deep in the Ötztaler Alps. Most visitors are hikers, but it's also a good base to climb some of the glaciated mountains in the area, such as the Mutmalspitze (3528m) and Schalfkogel (3540m), to name just two. And it lies at the start of the steep hiking trail to the Kreuzspitze (3457m), one of the highest hiking peaks in Austria. Don't let the car fool you, it's not a public road; the car is used by the staff of the refuge. For a fee, you can have your gear transported up from Vent. 11 July 2012.
