Martin Cash and I really...

Martin Cash and I really enjoyed the morning glow on the peaks during the approach to Chair. This is a view up toward Bryant Peak. Observe those snowshoes Martin is wearing. That's about the last time we'd see them, for they were stolen from trailside while we were on route. Feb. 22, 2004.

pretty lame

That sucks that someone would steal gear. Always a concern I guess but I've never actually had anything stolen during a climb. (except for food by chipmunks)

I think this photo is taken from or near a spot that was all brambles and sticker bushes during Martin's and my climb of the Tooth this past summer. We fought our way through a bunch of junk. Looks like you picked the right time of the year for a fun climb. Nice series of photos.

Re: pretty lame

That is lame. Someone once swiped a pair of my hiking poles while I was in the backcountry. I actually caught the SOB who did it and gave him an earful. It seems that incidents like this are usually perpetrated by dipshits who (fortunately) don't venture out in the backcountry very much but manage to bring the worst aspects of humanity into the wilderness with them. It sucks to have a trip end on a sour note like that.

Re: pretty lame

Yeah, people can't just leave stuff alone sometimes. Martin Cash and I needlessly took our poles up to the base of the climb. So, before beginning, Martin went and tossed them down into the basin so we wouldn't have to climb back up to the notch to retrieve them after the climb. Well, some idiots came along (might have been Martin Volken's ski-touring party) and took the poles back up to the notch. I had to lug my tired ass up there to get them.

Re: pretty lame

On the plus side, it is a pretty photo. I've enjoyed the entire series of shots!
