Looks like

he smells something rank :)

But seriously, I'm enjoying your new page. Have also heard a lot about that tool (grivel Taa-k-oon).

Re: Looks like

ha-ha! A fraction of a second ago I fell off the overhang, hence the expression on my snout...

This Grivel tool is ingenious! It gives so much flexibility on technical climbs; I love it... Of course, it's leashless, and there is this great debate about leashless tools on alpine routes (not just short technical ice/mixed routes); BUT, I am contemplating adapting the tool for alpine by attaching a removable leash (sort of like on the Cobra tool). If you know of successful modifications of this sort, please let me know..

Regards.

Re: Looks like

Hahaha, that would explain it ... I can relate.

I'm sure the regular BD android leash would work (not the viper android), though have heard about them accidentally unclipping when mantling ... kind of a scary thought for alpine stuff. I suspect that a leash like the BD lockdown or grivel easy-g or whatever would probably work too, but of course wouldn't be as easily removable.

I like the petzl clipper that came on the quarks this year, but I don't think they make a version that clamps on like the BD android - have to have a pre-drilled hole in the shaft for the quick-release post.
