Mogollon Moment - Back in the Green
Back in the Green! The northern half of Tonto
National Forest, as seen from the 'Military
Sinkhole' Vista atop Arizona's Mogollon Rim.
Military Sinkhole Vista is a TH for the historic
General Crook Trail. It was a major supply route for
military forts during the "Apache Wars' of the 1800s.
In late September 1874, the first wagon train crossed
this trail. At that time, a journey from San Francisco,
CA, to Fort Apache in eastern AZ usually lasted at
least two full months.
Photographer's Note:
When I say, "back in the green," I mean OUT of the
bloomin' hot desert, and INTO the cool green forest!
