We Were Right On Your Route!

Brian-

We followed your route right to the tee, as evidenced by this photo, albeit unwittingly. We had set out to climb Hagar and the Citadel via Dry Gulch. Then we thought we'd better get a look at the mountains first and decided to throw in Trelease to do it. Once on Trelease, we saw the Citadel had too much snow and we did not have our gear. Having climbed North Star Mountain the prior day, we did not want to overdo it, so we climbed Trelease and called it a day.

But we executed your route from memory. I recalled you mentioning the old road before crossing Dry Creek. We found it and followed it until it petered out. We hung a right and came across the foundation of a dwelling which I also remembered from your route description. Seeing this picture made me realize we followed your very footsteps. We climbed over the knob on the right.

We also enjoyed the fun and unexpected narrow ridge to the west of the summit. We descended through Loveland Basin. Made for a wonderful summer's day in the Rockies! Thanks for posting your route-it works well!

Glad you enjoyed this one! So, if you followed my exact route, you found my North Face Windstopper gloves then that I lost on this one?? ;- )

(I have a habit of losing things on mountains. I lost my fourth pair of Oakley Iridium Five sunglasses on Merchant Peak in Washington today.) :- (
