Mount Andromeda

Mount Andromeda

The heavily corniced summit ridge of Mount Andromeda. There is a recent accident report involving two climbers who feel through one of these cornices in May-June conditions. In spring much more caution is essential. You also have to ascend the lower glacier under the largest of these cornices not visible in this photo (further left). This is also not the true summit (further left as well). Jasper National Park, Columbia Icefields, May 8, 2006
