Sweet hike
Easy hike up and across sawtooth. Can't wait for winter for a ski descent.

standard route in early October
Decided to do one last climb of the season. There was some snow. I brought my gaiters and used them but didn't need crampons. Only saw 2 other groups and had the summit to myself at around 1pm.
I climbed my first 14er ever with my husband and brother-in-law two weeks after moving to Colorado!

August Snow!!!
It was a cold, rain day. My friend and I sat on the summit for an hour (I don’t recommend this) as we waited for the rest of our party. On the way down we got stuck in a snow storm that made the rock very slick. Several people slipped on the way down. Sawtooth looks fun!

Route Climbed: West Slope
First 14er in Colorado. Drove my GF to work in Denver, then headed up into the hills, climbed Bierstadt over the West Slope and was back in time to pick her up after work.
Not the way we climb such high mountains where I'm from...
Had secret tip on how to bypass wet willows, back to car before major thunderstorm hit.

3rd time's a charm
This was my 3rd time summitting this peak - a fun one to be sure, although it was a very cold and windy day.

Fam's First 14er attempt
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL DAY!!! Took the whole fam to Bierstadt, picking what I thought was the easiest 14er over the easiest path (Guenella Pass). The wife and 13yo and 6yo daughters all gave it the college try, but they turned around at 12,600ft while the 10yo son and I trudged ahead. Made the summit quickly, then hiked down quickly the find the family sleeping in the truck.
Guess I thought they could make it (this is my 9th 14er) but we'll try again next spring. All in all, no complaints about the cool weather and cloudless sky. Wish all hikes were like that! See my Mt Sherman writeup from the week prior to see how things change in a week.

Finally got up this one...Top of Bier from Guanella pass in just over 2 hours...descent to Sawtooth about 1 hour...Sawtooth traverse - PRICELESS! That thing is FUN! A good beginner class 3 with a little (but not too much) exposure for newbies...Lets not talk about the willows on the way out...:)
I was looking for the trail to do Mt Evans from the Guanella Pass trailhead, but I must have walked right past it. No matter, ended doing Bierstadt instead. My dog's first fourteener!
