#4 of 4 for the Day. Total trip took about 6 hours at a casual pace. Lots of people out there today. Think I'll try a class 4 next weekend to get away from the crowds.
A man on a motorcycle at the summit...
Last of 3 today.
Made it to the large, rounded summit of Bross around 10:45 and dealt with some of the worst winds I've ever encountered on a 14er. Can't say Bross was my favorite with its yucky scree descent, but I'm thankful that I only had to descend the scree rather than climb it. That would have been icky...
We did the Decalibron from Kite Lake. Easy peaks and great views. Bross is a pretty ugly peak though. We went on to do Quandary next
Climbed together with Democrat, Lincoln and Cameron.
I climbed the peak with my mom, dad and brother on July 4 2009. See the 2009 Trip Log for details.
I climbed the peak with my mom, dad and sister on July 4 2009. See the 2009 Trip Log for details.
Very easy hike from Mt Lincoln, but the climb down to Kite Lake was a never-ending route of scree and talus.
Climbed all 4 summits. Overall easy climbs except the fact I got sick. There all very fun!
Hiked with Democrat, Cameron and Lincoln....descent was painful
Linked Lincoln and Bross, then did Democrat the following day.
All I really remember is thinking that the summit was huge and how did they know where the exact top was??? (Hey, I was a little kid!)
Hiked all 4 on a really clear Colorado Day.
Originally, the plan was for Lincoln but figured since Bross was only another 10 minutes away, why not. Exceptionally beautiful day! Little to no wind (a rare treat!).
Took a friend from South Africa for his 1st 14er.
Continued on over and tagged Lincoln afterwards.
Winter ascent of the "S" Gully with Jamie Nellis
Very unusual summit. Looks a like parking lot. I heard there are occationaly trucks parked up there. You need treking poles on the desent.
There are still signs on the peak saying there is no public access to Bross. I walked past them.
Felt like February.....postholing in snow to my knees and extremely strong winds.
I didn't want to ascend this mountain due to the legal dispute but while on Lincoln I saw an ill-placed SUV parked on the Bross-Cameron summit that distracted my peace of mind. So I took it the summit and glad I did it! Descending the scree-infested slope of Bross was hell esp. in a 30+ mph wind and a hail storm.
