Route Climbed: via Lincoln + Democrat Date Climbed: July 2000  Sucess!

Try the descent during the late spring/early summer before the snow melts out of the gully - less erosion that way through the scree.

Route Climbed: Kite Lake Date Climbed: Multiple  Sucess!

First time was Sept. 2001 and I had to practically run off the mountain to get out of a snowstorm. Only got Cameron/Bross that day since the weather was so crazy. Thankfully getting from Bross to the parking lot only takes 45 minutes (or less) if you're in a hurry. Climbed again in August 2003 to get Lincoln and complete the group. Had good weather and didn't have to run down Bross this time.

Worst of the Lincoln group. Some lazy ass drove to the top... lame.

This was the finishing touch to the triple header. Coming down the mountain was a bit tough, but extremely fun!!

Route Climbed: Three Banger via Cameron Point ridge Date Climbed: September 1, 2003  Sucess!

Great day! Blue skies all day. What an ideal finish to the three banger. Helped several people find the path down to Kite Lake.

Route Climbed: Standard, 4-banger combo Date Climbed: 23 august, 2003  Sucess!

Really kind of an un-exciting mountain. Its mainly just a really huge blob of talus with no real features or aesthetics to speak of. The hike from Cameron is literally on roads - as the top is completely checkerboarded with old mining roads that you could easilly take most 4WD cars up. Met a party of Europeans on mountain bikes on the top. Decent back to Kite lake is well defined, but somewhat of a choss pile - its amazing that enough thousands of boots can change talus into funky, loose scree. Not really a peak I'd be too excited about doing agin just due to the boring factor :)

Route Climbed: Kite Lake Trailhead Date Climbed: August 9, 2003  Sucess!

My climbing partner Tim and I reached the summit of Mount Bross on Saturday, August 9, 2003. This was Tim’s second official 14’er of the day. We left Democrat off the circle traverse as I had reached its summit earlier this year with a fellow climber.

Route Climbed: Kite Lake via Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln Date Climbed: July 9, 2003  Sucess!

Kind of a long day...I'm not gonna fib! It wasn't too hard, though I had a headache most of the day. I suppose it was due to lack of acclimation. I was fine the rest of the week, though, so I guess these 4 got me good and acclimated! Kind of a boring mountain, I thought, with it being so rounded at the top. Not really any distinct peak. How crazy that people drive all the way up there!! I wish we would have asked someone for a ride down...but the way down wasn't too bad. Full of scree, but it was fun. I found a little bit of snow to slide down-whee! It was nice to get back to camp after a while. I tried to swim in Kite Lake but only got in to about my waist before I high-tailed it outta there! BRR it was cold!

Route Climbed: Kite Lake to Democrat to Lincoln to Bross Date Climbed: July 3, 2003  Sucess!

My first 14ers! Awesome circuit across three 14ers. Going from Kite Lake to Mt. Democrat to Mt. Lincoln to Mt. Bross is like rounding a seven-mile baseball diamond backwards.

Mt. Bross has a humongous flat top. I had to hike about a 1/4 mile across the top to the north just to see off the north edge.

The hike down from Bross was quite tricky due to the loose scree on the steep slope.

Route Climbed: Kite Lake Date Climbed: Mon June 30, 2002  Sucess!

Bross' interestingly flat summit contrasts well with the other nearby 'pointy' peaks. Hiked as part of the 'calibron' (no dem) with friends Dave and Kim. This was, however, the most uncomfortable and awkward descent of a mountain I have ever experienced. This unavoidable 'scree slide' took months off the life of my new hiking boots, and we felt terrible at the sea of rocks we were forced into eroding down the face with us.

Route Climbed: Traverse from Lincoln Date Climbed: June 23, 2003  Sucess!

Very relaxing and enjoyable hike from Lincoln. Encountered some very strong wind on the summit. The descent off of Bross was very fun and exciting running and skiing down the scree!!!. Even got to do a bit of standing glissading on some snow below the scree slope. This was one of the most enjoyable descents off a 14er I can remember.

Route Climbed: traverse and West Slopes(II) descent Date Climbed: Sept. 26, 2001  Sucess!

4th 14'er. Climbed with Jennifer. Easy hike across saddle. The path we took down the scree was quite steep for awhile. Great hiking day except for knee problems and skipping Lincoln(we'll be back though).

Route Climbed: Below Windy Point - 11,200' Date Climbed: June 1, 2002  Sucess!

The goal of the day was to get in Mt. Lincoln, Mt Democrat and Mt Bross, but I wanted to get 3,000 vertical feet in on the first peak and that’s very hard to do that from the trailheads. I could have started at Kite Lake but that would have only been 2,000 feet to Democrat but with the other two peaks I would have accumulated to 3,000 vertical. The trailhead just below Windy Point and the Bristlecone forest was very close to the 3,000 feet elevation gain to Mt Bross so that’s where I decided to start.

It was humid when I reached the trailhead so I was a little worried about storms later on and wasted no time in going up. The hike was pretty uneventful. It was mostly on roads carved on Broses east face. I also wanted to get in South Bross an unofficial fourteener but a 14,020 foot point on the map and listed in Roaches book. So I left the road at about 13,000 feet and headed straight up the mountain side to S Bross. I was at the summit at 9:00 am just one hour and fifty minutes. Then I headed over to Bross and made it by 9:20. I did 3,000 vertical in two hours and ten minutes, 1,500 feet per hour a first for me. Mt Bross has two wind breaks on its huge summit and it is hard to tell which the higher point is and there wasn’t any USGS Markers so I went to both.

Route Climbed: traverse Date Climbed: fall, 1995  Sucess!

Went up this, Mt. Lincoln, & Mt. Democrat on the same weekend, with the CU hiking club. Believe that this was the 2nd of the 3 that day. As with all of the other hiking club excursions, the trip was fun.

9.5.'10
Did it with the rents & dog. After a long wedding reception in Ft. Collins the night before, it's a wonder I even made it out of bed. At any rate, started at the Dolly Varden TH @ 10.45. Took a leisurely pace (meandering roads made the route about 5 miles longer than it needed to be one-way), & sauntered onto the summit @ 14.31; incredibly windy up there! To the point where it wasn't pleasant, so little time spent on summit. Departed @ 14.46. Upon reaching the bottom, ascended a couple hundred ft. to make the total amount of ascent over 3k' total. Great day!
