Great place for solitude...  Sucess!

Gorgeous day for the first weekend of summer, and I saw only three groups all day. Otherwise just me, the birds, toads and the flowers all day. Lots of signs of moose in the area too, but no sightings.

My first one

Did loop from unknown pond (The Horn, the Bulge) coming back on Bunnell Notch on a warm sunny day. Still 47 more 4000+ to go.
Can't find mountains that big in Quebec. I really enjoyed!

Good views  Sucess!

But do not stay at the Cabin, infested with mice and mold.

Great hike up in mostly sun. Cabin up top is a Hanta virus lab. On to the Bulge and Horn after.

Election Day hike  Sucess!

I could have stayed home and cast a vote that wouldn't really matter, or I could go to NH and go hiking. I decided on the latter. I went to Mt. Cabot, going over The Bulge, and on the way back hit The Horn. The best part of the hike was Unknown Pond actually. There was a really slim layer of snow on the trail that made things slippery, but hey what can you do. No views were available, it was too hazy, and cloudy. I didn't even bother going past the summit to the cabin. The fish hatchery you pass on the way to the trailhead looked interesting.

Mount Cabot  Sucess!

Climbed with the Bulge and the Horn via the Bunnell Notch Trail from York Pond. A great hike to do in the fall. Saw a Garter Snake going up Bunnell Notch. The foliage was at its peak this time of year. The Cabot Cabin proved to be a good spot to sit and have lunch while en route to the summit.

Decision Day  Sucess!

While hiking up this peak in the Kilkenny section of WMNF, I decided to try and summit all the 4,000 foot peaks in New England. A feat I was finally able to accomplish in 2004.

Bunnell Notch Trail to Kilkenny Ridge Trail  Sucess!

Lovely day in the mountains. The views from Cabot are definately underrated (though the summit is in the trees). No wildlife today. The previous evening there was some light snow, creating a nice layer of ice on the trees near the summit. Of course the strong spring sun melted it all away as we hiked to the top.

Finished my NH 4000 footers!  Sucess!

After being turned back on the Bunnell Notch Trail a month earlier when a bear charged me, I came back from the Mill Brook Trailhead to finish up my NH 4000 Footers in the midst of a cloud of black flies.

Winter Day hike  Sucess!

Lovely day hike spent with my friend Ada. Had hot chocolate in the hut (no, no concessioniers on the summit- I brought stove, pot and fixin's up with me). We hiked out with a huge full moon at our backs, lighting our way down.

Route Climbed: unknown pond from mill brook rd Date Climbed: 13 August 2005  Sucess!

Too humid for ideal photography, but a nice warm day for a solo hike. Views from The Horn were very good, especially in the evening as the haze started lifting. Wildlife count: one moose, two turkeys, two grouse, four snakes (presumed garters), and a variety of amphibians, rodents, and songbirds.
