From Cat Basin
Stayed two nights at Cat Basin. Official campsite is very horsey. Catwalk was time consuming but not real difficult. Climbers track most of the way up Carrie on the SW ridge. Crossed the scree basin to the summit without having to go on the snow. I would guess that any time before early August an ice axe and maybe crampons would be good. Saw 3 bears on the trip.

Warm and dry
One of the hottest days I've ever had in the Olympics. Great views of Olympus and the interior

From Catwalk
Bagged Cat peak on the way. Included these climbs in a long traverse across the park.

Sunny day on a mountain of quartz.
Camped two nights at Swimming Bear Lake - this was the daytrip in between. Scrambled this summit with a great guy who used to be a ranger in the area. He later died hiking in Hawaii. This was the only mountain we ever climbed together.
Part of a Labor Day weekend High Divide Loop. We started at the Sol Duc River trail, headed up to Appleton Pass, circled around to below Cat Lake. The next day we moved camp and trekked across the Catwalk - GREAT FUN!!!, and made our way NE along the summit ridge. We had to wait for 12 people to get off the summit before we could climb up. Incredible amount of people that day. We enjoyed the panoramic views across to Canada and the inner Olympics.
I climbed Carrie from Hoh Lake and the High Divide. It was my first trip to the Olympics. The Catwalk was very fun and the toughest part of the climb. Lots of goat hair. Boston Charlie has very nasty water. A good filter is essential.

my buddy and i climbed this peak in 2004. To this day I look at that as the most fun hike/climb I've done below 7000 feet. Awesome peak with its fair amount of 'interesting' moments. The catwalk is pretty intense in a few places. Go get it!

Climbed on a traverse of the Bailey Range. Camped at Boston Charlie's camp (highly recommended). The climb was class two to the summit over loose rock and scree. Great views of the Bailey Range and Mt Olympus.
