Route Climbed: Summit Lake, Road Date Climbed: '70's, '80's, 90's  Sucess!

I've done this mountain many times, one time even participating in the Mount Evans Road Run! Actually, it's quite a nice mountain; many times we'd go to Summit Lake, then go up and over, and do the traverse to Bierstadt. Lots of things to do on Evans, lots of ways to do them!

Route Climbed: Sawtooth Date Climbed: June 2004  Sucess!

Combined with Bierstadt and the Sawtooth ridge, this makes for a great day of class 3. Almost wish I had avoided the summit crowds of cars and people. The gully back to Guanella is an interesting place.

Route Climbed: Summit Lake via Spalding Date Climbed: July 30, 2004  Sucess!

It was very windy and pretty cold at the summit. It wasn't as crowded up there as I had expected. There were only a few hikers doing this the "hard way", most of them were coming up from the parking lot.

First climbed Bierdstadt and then did the sawtooth to Evans with clear skies throughout the day.

Route Climbed: Northeast Face Date Climbed: June 12, 2004  Sucess!

It is a short and easy hike from Summit Lake. It was cold with scattered snow showers. I climbed with my brother Brent and my sister Laura.

Route Climbed: Road bike Date Climbed: June 2004  Sucess!

Cycled from Bergen Park park and ride to the summit parking lot, then ascended the last 100feet via bike shoes. 68 mile round trip. Encouraged two hikers on the 1/4 mile summit trail not to turn back, as they negotiated a 5 foot long patch of snowy trail.

Route Climbed: from Summit Lake via easternmost couloir on north face Date Climbed: 27 June, 2004  Sucess!

Just spent a great morning up high on Evans and Spalding. Climbed the easternmost couloir on Evans' north face under cloudless skies. The snow was over-ripe (read postholing up to my thighs) down low in the lower-angled stuff, but pretty good up high. Had a great view from the top, then wandered over to Spalding and down its ridge back to the truck. Of course, by this time, it was snowing and clouds filled the horizon and necessitated a 15mph retreat down the mountain.

Route Climbed: Echo lake Date Climbed: 6/02  Sucess!

This was a fun hike, although it was very crowded on top. It was also very warm on top and the view was great!

Route Climbed: Sawtooth via Bierstadt's SE Ridge Date Climbed: July 27, 2001  Sucess!

The culmination of a wonderful loop starting at the first switchback on Evans' SE slopes on the Mt Evans Highway. Straight down into Abyss Lake's valley, up Bierstadt's lofty SE ridge, over Bierstadt, across the Sawtooth, and over Evans back to the car. An intense introduction to Class 3!

Route Climbed: Crystal/Snave combo -- North Face Date Climbed: 6/8/04  Sucess!

Drove up to Summit Lake this morning and climbed the North Face, starting with the "Crystal" route on hard snow, and then bailed near the top to traverse east across the face to the start of the Snave Couloir, and finished the ascent with the Snave. A nice fun 4th class pitch for the finish, good weather. A fun 2 hr. climb from Summit Lake.

Route Climbed: Sawtooth Date Climbed: August 2003  Sucess!

The traverse from Bierstadt was a lot of fun - definitely liked the Sawtooth a lot. Some airy views, but nothing too demanding. Storms brewing early in the day forced me down into Scott Gomer Creek drainage and I got to have some willow-bashing fun afterall!

Took my two little girls on this little outing. Would do it again, except they are teenagers now and mountain climbing isn't cool any more. Nice day in the mountains.

Beautiful spring day, decent spring snow. The long day became even longer as my crap snowshoe decided to pop off with everyother plunge step. 7:30 to 5:30 trip = tired Ryan

The Sawtooth Ridge is a must climb!! With the right route finding and some effort you can stay on the ridge and enjoy the awesome views on both sides!!

Route Climbed: Sawtooth Ridge Date Climbed: September 28, 2001  Sucess!

We wanted to try out some more third-class after a favorable experience on Longs during the summer. The Sawtooth Ridge is a great introduction to alpine scrambling. The exposure is considerable in places, especially to the uninitiated, but we were already getting comfortable with exposure to some extent. Once across the ridge, we thought we were home free, but Evans' west ridge goes on interminably. We encountered flurries on Evans' summit before we started heading back to Guanella. We used the gully that descends west from the saddle between Spalding and Evans (I've seen this gully given a name before, but I can't recall it right now) to reach the Scott Gomer Creek headwaters. We had a miserable time in the willows (no boardwalks here!), but we made it back to the car without incident.

Route Climbed: Sawtooth Ridge from Bierdstadt and ridge from Mount Spaulding Date Climbed: July 3, 2000  Sucess!

A big mountain with a road to the top. Although the Mount Evans highway mars the wilderness characteristics of the mountain it does allow some neat little adventures.

Okay, I'm really lame.

I drove the road with my family some time ago.

I plan to ascend by either sawtooth, guanella pass, or perhaps

the Snave or similar north face routes sometime soon...

This was the second 14'er and I was 5. Climbed with my dad and brother, and made it to the top without help. It was the begining of a lifetime love of the mountians.
