Guanella Pass  Sucess!

At such a young age, a few memories:

1. People were "climbing" from the parking lot and proclaiming they climbed a mountain. I was pretty arrogant and mad at them (hey I was 8 yrs old!)

2. I learned how much willows can suck for the first time

3. I was in awe of the sawtooth

Not so bad  Sucess!

Even though it has a road to the top there are plenty of routes that make it worth going back to multiple times.

Biking summit

One of the few mountains I've only climbed by bike--during the Mt. Evans Hill Climb Bike race. Unique experience! Rather than descending on my bike I rode down in a van provided by my bike club.

First 14er  Sucess!

First successful summit of a 14er on a very cold and windy day.

via the Sawtooth from Bierstadt  Sucess!

Solo from Guanella to Bierstadt then on to Evans via the Sawtooth. Chased down an alternate route through the willows back to Guanella by some nasty t-storms.

Interesting Climb  Sucess!

but very fun!! Tried North Face Direct but It was not safe enough and not enough snow. Traversed to the ridge leading to the summit. Came down the road. This one was fun to solo

Short But Fun  Sucess!

James and I took turns hiking Evans/watching the baby from Summit Lake since we have a 6-month-old who can't quite go to that elevation yet. Shortest ascent of a 14er I've ever done, but didn't feel too much like I was cheating because of the steepness of the trail toward to top. It was a little bit demoralizing to top out at a parking lot, though. Beautiful mountain and scenery nonetheless.

Evans  Sucess!

On the way home through Colorado, stopped up at the top, caught the sunrise with 1 other party, then took a nap in the car. Woke up to find the place had turned into a mall.

On foot from guanella  Sucess!

Marni, Turbo and I had to do this one on foot since bikes and cars don't count by our rules. Lots of fun, the willows really weren't that bad.

West Ridge from Summit Lake  Sucess!

Nice, easy hike to Mt. Spalding and over the ridge to Evans. I only wish that the summit could have been a little bit less crowded with tourists, but that's just how it is, I guess, with Mt. Evans. Very beautiful day for a hike, but also very windy on top!

This time from the Mt Evans road  Sucess!

My third time on top with my sister and brother in law. I am always amazed at how the altitude affects you more when you drive to the top as opposed to climbing to 14,000 feet in one day.
