Route Climbed: Decalibron Date Climbed: July 1, 2005
I thoroughly enjoyed this peak. The final section of the trail snakes creatively through the summit rocks, putting you on top in almost effortless fashion. This is a handsome peak, particularly from the traverse to Mount Bross.
Route Climbed: Traversed over from Bross, as part of Decalibron in reverse. Date Climbed: July 1, 2005
#2 for the day, doing the Decalibron in reverse. Nice sunny day, but super windy and somewhat chilly (about 32 at the TH at 6am). Not much snow left, ran this in running shoes w/ a light pack to train for the Pikes Peak Ascent.
Route Climbed: Kite Lake: Democrat, Lincoln, Bross Date Climbed: June 11th, 2005
Climbed, Democrat (Southeast Face), Cameron, Lincoln, Bross, and South Bross. Great hike with lots of time spent at altitude. Took approximately 6 hours for the trip.
Route Climbed: Kite Lake Date Climbed: July 19, 2004
After the initial climb up Democrat, my lung capacity (altitude adjustment!) & the ATP in my muscles were finally finding their rhythm- this was a great hike & great views as always!
Route Climbed: Started with west ridge Date Climbed: Aug 29 2002
I arrived Wed. night late. I had trouble finding my way to Kite Lake road. I wasn’t sure where the trailhead was but I made the right guess. I started hiking at 4:00am and summited the first peak at 5:45. It was still dark. That was pretty awesome. I grabbed a quick munch and moved on. The second summit was farther than I thought and wasn’t much to look at and didn’t even count. I continued on and summited Mt. Lincoln, the best out of the four. It was cold and windy so I didn’t even sit down. I moved back to the saddle and continued to Mt. Bross. It was an easy traverse on a mining road. After summiting Bross I descended down the west slope drainage, it was hell. I arrived back to my truck at around 9:30am.
Route Climbed: All 4 of Lincoln Group from Kite Lake TH Date Climbed: July 2005
Solo Trip - I've done Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross twice now. It's always a good early season hike to push myself. Running the ridges at 13,800 is true suffering. My last round trip of all four was four hours twenty-two minutes trailhead to trailhead. I rarely race a fourteener, but this group just seems to say "go ahead and suffer".
Route Climbed: East Ridge Date Climbed: March 9, 1985
A winter climb with the CMC. Hard, windpacked snow (esp. on the descent from Bross) made me want crampons. We had all left the snowshoes at the cars, and the snow on the descent was too hard to kick steps and too rough to glissade.
Route Climbed: West Ridge Date Climbed: June 13, 2004
We had skipped this one previously when doing Bross and Democrat as I was having problems with my knee. We returned and summited Lincoln while on a trip back to CO. It was a slow painful day for Jennifer, but we made it. We had plans of doing quite a few peaks in those 10 days, but seing as she ripped a toenail off our first day out there this was the only peak we made. Great clear day, but very windy.
