Met up with a guy hiking in jeans. That can't be too comfortable!
Most of the hillside going up Bross was scented with wildflowers. What a gift! There's an old mining cabin with a permanent snowfield inside. Seriously, I suspect it doesn't melt out. Neato.
Made the trip round the horn, Lincoln > Cameron > Democrat > Bross. Had to park 2-3 miles from the trailhead for fear of my car which made for the day being a little longer.
My wife and I did the Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross cirque with our dog, Boomer, to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Great weather day!
By the time I got to Lincoln, I had decided to see how fast I could wrap up the Decalibron. I don't think I stood on the summit for more than 30 seconds, just enough time to down a granola bar.
Knocking off 3-4 14ers, depending on your point of view, in one hike is great. Perfect weather.
Depending on whether or not you consider Mt. Cameron a 14er, we completed Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, and Bross. There was still enough snow on Bross for a small glisade.
Climbed East Ridge with Tajii & other friend Mike. Only ones on the summit *shock*, great day out, fun route!
Took my girlfriend up her 1st 14er
Loop with Democrat and Bross
Climbed with Cameron, Democrat, and Bross
Part of a 10 day 18 14,000 ft. summit solo climbing trip.
Breezy and snowy day on the east slopes - light new snow cover made the ski descent tricky.
Climbed this nice winter route during a day that turned from sun slowly to blizzard, a fun day. Climbed up R of Lincoln Falls ice climbing, then gained the ridge on the R of the main drainage and followed it over the S? face on our left, beautiful position, up to broad open slopes above the cabin at the end of the narrow part of the ridge. Ridge kept us mainly free of avalanche hazard (except for down by ice climbing)but the acummulating windblown new snow and the need to use the better snow right on the edge of the S face kept it a little spicy. Good time, I would recommend this as a winter route.
Great day. Nice views.
The mining activity that took place at nearly 14,000 feet on these peaks speaks of how tough those old miners were.
Good clean fun.
Did just Mt. Lincoln, passing over Cameron with Chad's brother Travis, sister Kelly and mom! Great hike for 14er newbies.
