Mount Marcy
This was my 14th SHP. I went via the Van Hoevenberg Trail. The trail is very well marked and would be difficult to get lossed on- unless you went off trail.
A very long hike on a crystal-clear summer day. Once above the treeline, the views were incredible. Started early morning so we had plenty of time to lounge once we summited - plenty of company up there too. Back down by dinnertime
Camped about 3 miles in. Got an early start the following day and was the first ones on the top about 9:30am. No views. sloppy trail in spots.

Three Winter Peaks in One
Dan and I started from the LOJ at 7:00 a.m. It was 5 degrees and we had no hopes of it getting any warmer. We bagged Skylight first and went on to route find the well hidden path of Gray. We just about turned around but finally found the top. Went on to the summit of Marcy and moved off just in time for it to sock in. Fun hard day. Thank you Dan for helping me with the Adirondack 46! Hiked in again with Vikram on November 18, 2009.

Hiking up a creek (otherwise known as Van Hoevenberg Trail)
Almost the entire Van Hoevenberg trail up this mountain is covered in streaming water, puddles or mud, not to mention a few brook crossings (during spring anyway)... makes for a nice and messy adventure!

Stunningly Clear Day
Visibility was so clae we felt as if we could touch the scenery. Park ranger could'nt remember such perfect conditions.
Brought my friends out to the Upper Works trail head and we decided to tackle this trek starting around 2pm.(very late) Little food and limited water, it turned out to be a great challenge. Half of the group turned back 2 miles in and the rest of us hiked ~11 miles (one way) and made it to the top by sunset(which was beautiful) My puggle Gizmo also came up with us. The night hike back down was even more fun and we didn't make it back the the cars until just about sunrise. Excellent memorable time!

Failed Attempt
80+ mph winds, and no crampons or axe, such a sad thing it is to turn around especially from so close. Still got to enjoy INCREDIBLE views though, will be back again!
Love Mt Marcy! How can you not love Mount Marcy?!?

Marcy
Spent 4 days in adks with my son. It was a killer time. going in 2011 to do it all over. The trip up marcy was very demanding hard on the 44 year old feet but very much worth it. Ran out of water 1/2 way down. That will not happen again. So much to see loved every sec........

Birthday Hike
We took full climbing gear which made for 70+ lb. packs over the top and in to Avalanche Pass. Brought to ex-military friend and they both said the hike was tougher than advanced training. Lots of bears too!

Did not summit, we had an issue just a 1/4 mile from the top (just past where you come out of the trees). Lots of snow, and wind, but otherwise a nice day and a fun climb.
