stock animal trail with lots of horse shit. would not take this trail again. slog up to the summit.
Kevin - was this for Morgan North or Morgan South?
This was better than I had expected. Class 1, sure, but on pretty solid rock and in a gorgeous location. Spectacular views from the top in all directions. Trip report.
Climbed the north ridge starting past Lake Francis as storm clouds were building.
Via Lake Francis. I found Morgan a pleasant climb. Great views, (mostly) good footing, and a good day all around.
Some intermittent dry patches between so-so skiing. But still a great outing in perfect weather
What started out as a pretty casual morning scramble turned into an early afternoon full speed fleeing of a storm
A straightforward route from the lake. Lots of bugs at the lake and the trail was more of a creek after the big winter. Fantastic views from the summit though! Some of the best around.
Approach from Francis Lake, saw some rockfall and avalanche.
Dayhike from Rock Creek lake via Francis lake, great weather and amazing views
A great, adventurous way to climb this peak. Outstanding views.
Day hike via Francis Lake from Rock Creek. I was almost back at the Lake when thunder started rumbling. Not too long after that the flood gates opened and all hell broke loose. Luckily I was back in the trees; I did get soaked but no biggie on a warm August day :)
Not the adventure I was expecting after reading up on it. Took a wide, loose chute directly from the summit to just north of Chickenfoot Lake.
Sierra Challenge Day
Fun, pretty easy hike for such a tall peak. Went over to 12 Flags after but turned around just short of the summit at a really loose section, wasn't sure if it would get any better, should have researched better first...trip report is HERE
A long trek via the ridge for my altitude-inept self. Was so happy to finally get to Morgan, only to find out that what you see from the ridge the whole time is a false summit.
Outstanding views on a clear day. Going down the west face (about a 3rd of a way down the ridge) was just awful though.
Day 2 of SC13. Hung out on the summit for a while with a large group. Hit Twelve Flags on the way out.
From Morgan Pass. Decent scramble, Class 2-4.
Nice hike and fantastic views
maintained a nice pace up and didn't get sick, was very happy with that. Great views from the summit. Added in Twelve Flags after, then busted my ankle on the way down :(
