M.R. to Whitney and Muir  Sucess!

Scrambled up the correct peak this time. That was some pretty steep Class 3.

Quickie  Sucess!

Quick solo evening run up from trail camp after hauling overnight pack up to trail camp (did Whitney in the morning with rest of group). Feels more class 4 than class 3 to me; more exposure than I was really comfortable with unprotected.

Muir was the third summit of a great four-peak traverse with Sawtooth Sean. The final scramble was a lot of fun. Trip Report

Great fun  Sucess!

Scrambled up on the way down from Whitney. Climbing the summit block was really fun, and I loved the views from the apex.

Traverse

Did the Carillon-Russell-Whitney-Muir traverse in a long day with SuperDave. Muir was the last peak of the day and was a great little scramble.

from Whitney Trail  Sucess!

Excellent deviation from the trail slog up Whitney...and provided my buddy Bret some privacy to propose to Jannel on the trail below while I scrambled up :) Congrats guys!

Good, solid rock and an airy summit away from the crowds for a short bit.

Bonus  Sucess!

It has become my tradition to climb Mt. Muir on my way down from Whitney. I've done it thirteen times so far. It's a short but fun climb with a big payoff.

Cherry on top  Sucess!

Was not going to miss this side trip while slogging up the Whitney trail. As most have said it makes your Whitney day way more satisfying (that is if you're slogging). The summit block was a blast, it was nice to actually pull some granite in order to nab the peak. The summit is an enjoyable one that probably could accomodate 5 to 7 people max.

From JMT  Sucess!

8:05 AM ascent from Guitar Lake to Muir Peak then Whitney summit by 10:15 with my 35 pound pack. Descend the Mountaineers route, seeing one other hiker. Finishing a successful two week completion of the John Muir Trail with a great but short day. This was my fifth time up it.

Fun!  Sucess!

Highly recommended side-scramble from the Whitney trail. I took a lot of time making sure to keep it class 3, as I was by myself, but there are a bunch of different ways to tackle the summit block.
