Great hike combined with a tag of Church for good measure!!
Ridge traverse from Rose->Church->Houghton->Relay.
A really nice trail with the flowers out and the waterfall and just a nice day all around. This is one I might even repeat.
A fun morning hike with Ryan. Trip Report
Had a nice weekend in the area, bagging Mount Rose, Church Peak, Sunflower Mountain, Houghton, and Relay Peak.
Nice early morning hike. Poor views from all the CA wildfires. Stopped by Church Peak too.
Been up a couple of times, the above date being my first. I've gone in on both the old road and the new TRT trail.
Great views from the summit
HIked this with college roommate Rob. My first time (walking) up a mountain higher than 10,000 feet. Nice hike, great views of Tahoe.
Snowshoe'd up the east side. Very little snow. Started early with Reno twinkling in the dawn light below. Great views of Tahoe from the summit.
I try to get up Mount Rose at least a couple times a year.
This is pretty much an annual event for me - I never get tired of it.
Climbed the southeast face. Spent the night at the summit, with thoughts of traversing to Church Peak, and then on to Mt. Houghton and Relay Peak the following day. Wind picked up overnight and never let up the following day with sustain 40-50 mph and gusts of 80-90 mph forcing us to abort any other targets and descend quickly.
Hiked this a couple of weeks after S. Sister. Fantastic views at the top and met some cool peeps along the way. A great way to spend the day.
Great views and chilly on top even in August, though that might be blaimed on the 3am departure time from the parking lot. Worth the trip to get to watch the sun rise though, I suggest it as a variation to an already interesting trail.
Well, almost. the top ridge was pretty wind blow, but once you drop down off the ridge it was Great fun. in the 80's
so the plan was to ski rose... until we got up there and saw that rose had almost no snow coverage... instead, we skied nearby tamarack peak (9897'), which was an absolute blast!
First time in 7th grade, then I waited till I was almost 40 to do it again and again. Great after work hike in the summer.
