Taken from the NOAA library, this image shows the Southwest side of St. Elias with the Ice Bay in the foreground. Hayden peak is hidden directly in front of St. Elias.

Agreed. It takes a long time going through lots of bland photos to find the good ones, but this was an excellent find! Makes me want to be there.

Drawing a blank...

This photo makes me wonder, are there any other peaks this near to a coast taller than this one? I think the fact that Elias' base is at sea level is what makes it so fascinating.
