Run to the Top  Sucess!

Start from the bottom of the ski lift run to Manker Flat and then up the fire road to the notch. Finish with Devils back bone to the top. Great day for a race weather was perfect. Must have been 500 people running today. Thanks to all the volunteers. Summit #10.

Climbed a few years back

Climbed up Baldy Bowl one year in early spring. Made it to the top of the bowl in high winds before I turned after hearing way too much whumping under the snow. A little scared, I bolted down the bowl on my skis.

LA?  Sucess!

Climbed several times, most recently in 2004 (finally signing the register) from the hut, Manker (is that a waterfall in LA?) and even took the lift once. This is a great escape from the empire.

Baldy Bowl/ski hut trail  Sucess!

Been to the top many times, mostly via Baldy Bowl. I hope to do the old trail from Baldy Village some day but haven't yet.

Hot  Sucess!

Was fun until the top when I started not feeling good (camp from sea level that morning). With Brian.

Baldy Notch to Devil's Backbone  Sucess!

Went with my sister Tracy, her friend Will, and Z. We took the ski lift up to Baldy Notch. Gorgeous day, great hike. The trail and summit were a bit crowded but everyone was friendly. The smog and haze obscured views all around, but the Devil's Backbone trail is still gorgeous.

My Stairmaster  Sucess!

At this rate, I'll climb it ten times this year. I came down via Baldy Bowl after my last two summits. The eastern route, decending below the Devil's Backbone trail, is fast and well used. However, beware of the use trail heading to a steep and loose chute just before the Ski Hut Trail begins decending steeply to the SW. Oh well, I had to try it. Not recommended in the summer, but I'll be back to ski it in the winter.

Nice Day Trip!  Sucess!

It is a nice one day adventure. I was checking the weather for more than a month, till I finally decided to go up. Many time the visibility is bad, so try to pick a day that will be visually entertaining:)

Baldy Notch and Bear Canyon  Sucess!

Did this mountain twice with a friend who was preparing for a Mt. Rainier climb. He said it made the difference for him. Our first ascent was on the Baldy Notch Route and the second was on the Bear Canyon route.
Each climb was pretty straight forward. We rode the chair lift down when we went up the Bear Canyon route (6000 ft wore us out).

Notch-Backbone-Bowl Loop  Sucess!

Very enjoyable hike with great views from Devil's Backbone. Got hot coming down the bowl. What's with the tourists climbing in jeans?! Added Mt. Harwood and West Baldy for grins.

Ski Hut Trail  Sucess!

Mt wife and I have gone up this route a few times over the past few months in order to prepare for Kilimanjaro. Beautiful mountain.

Ski hut trail up, lift down  Sucess!

Enjoyable hike up the ski hut trail and then down the backbone to the ski lift. Rode the lift down to the parking. Beautiful day up there. Went up with Gabriela, Mike, Deanne, Berta, Bill, Charley, and Dan. There was a group celebrating a birthday on the summit and had a big birthday cake, a cooler with soda, and made turkey wraps for lunch.

up Baldy Bowl, down Devil's Backbone  Sucess!

3rd of 5 summits (and a great technical canyon) this weekend.

This was a particularly enjoyable peak. Easy, but aesthetic, trail hike to a busy, but stellar, summit!

#9 I think  Sucess!

Left late sat night and camped at 8500' on the ridge from bear flat at 11pm. The city lights are amazing from up here. Spooked a couple of deer (?) all I saw was glowing eyes...hope they were deer. Up at dawn and on to the summit; tagged west Baldy and Harwood on the way to the notch. Wimped out with my new boots and took the lift down.

14th time  Sucess!

Love this mountain, this is where I am home. Saw lots of bighorn today, 1st pack was 3 females, 2nd pack was 2 females, and the 3rd pack was 5 males, awesome and very close within 50 of us. Took old favorite Ski Hut up and down.

Twist on a favorite  Sucess!

Climbed to ski hut, and then continued straight up the bowl. The exposure was cool, and the loose scree got my blood running fast a few times. It was beautiful on the summit. I had it all to myself and I took a nap.

Fav's  Sucess!

Windy  Sucess!

About the 5th or 6th climb for me. This time from manker flats via the ski hut trail, then back down via the backbone and nunder the ski lift. It was windy and cold on top despite being warm down in the city. Views are always amazing.
