Time 2. Is it ever not windy on the ridge?!
Easy hike. Only took an hour and a half to summit, and about 45 minutes to get back down. Only saw 2 other people, a father and his 8 year old daughter. Want to take some beginners on a 14er, this is the one since it is easy and not that crowded.
Great hike from Iowa Gulch. Hiked Mount Sheridan and Sherman.
Mount Sherman: 4,278 m (14,036 ft).
The weather this day had many, many moods: early morning rain, then sun, then more clouds boiled over the mountain and ridges and brought a driving rain/sleet/snow that pelted us on our ascent. However, once we reached the saddle between Sheridan & Sherman, the clouds were blowing off and the sun shined brightly. It was still cold at the summit, but cozy enough in the wind breaks for lunch. Amazing winds experienced for the entire ridgeline.
I climbed with my sister and father. We camped the night before and it was windy all around. Good easy climb, went very quickly.
Thought it was a fun hike, really liked the ridge to the summit. Thought the area was beautiful and ineresting.
Liked the fun and easy hike up the ridge to the Summit.
Loved all the dilapidated buildings on this hike!
Did we steal this one? Felt like it. Just slipped through a window in the weather to get up it. Ran into two huge groups which included a 7 year old kid and a corgi dog.
My first 14er. Summited in 2 hrs and 40 minutes. Not too bad, considering that I had just arrived from KS the previous evening. What a rush. 53 more to go!
This was my first and only solo 14'er and a winter ascent as well. From four mile creek TH, had the mountain all to myself, with great weather and just some wind on the summit.
CMC climb with all 4 seasons in one day
Easy climb crossing Iowa Gulch for a west side approach. Fun summit ridge with a little exposure introduction. Left trailhead at 7:05am, on top 9:40am. My member photo was actually a self portrait from summit of Sherman. I had ten seconds to run and assume a position of relaxation among the summit cairn rocks.
Did this one way back in the day.
I scaled a black dirt runoff from the snow melt straight up its' south face. Surprisingly firm! No loose talus. Actually kinda fun! Second time up here on my way over to Dyer.
Great hike and a wonderful day except that I lost my camera. Saw an elk herd on the drive in. (Four Mile Creek TH)
Sunny, calm, not quite hot but getting there. Glissades were soggy but enjoyable and not to be missed.
Really easy climb. Perfect weather, postholed a little on top but nothing to difficult. There was two really nice glissades on the way back down. Can't wait till next winter to take the board up, and maybe hit up some of the 13ers in the area to make a horseshoe type route.
Great day! Climbed from the Fourmile Creek side. Relatively easy going as the snow stayed firm through noon. The final ridge was enjoyable and was in good condition - good snow with a few spots of hard snow/ice. The glissade down was great too!
Nice hike. Best part was glissading down!
