Iowa Gulch route
My friend Matt and I climbed this route from the paved road turnoff to get 3000 feet of elevation gain. Fun, easy straigt forward route. The weather was particularly nasty for most of the day. The cold front that passed through dropped some snow and a lot of wind. The weather broke up a bit during the summit rest. We only saw two other people on the mountain so that was nice. Great day.
This was my first 14er climb, and I climbed it again several other times. I even took several of my family who were flatlanders from Indiana almost to the summit before they turned around.

Fourmile Route
Parked at the gate, and was glad I did, since I don't much care for walking on roads. It snowed down to around 11,500 the night before, maybe 3-4 inches up high; bare in some places, drifted knee deep in others. Reached the summit quickly, and decided to tag Gemini while I was there. I didn't have much interest in Sheridan on the way down, though. Weather was forecast to be nasty, but it was clear and beautiful, though windy.

GREAT HIKE
Couldn't have asked for more perfect weather. Sunny & warm. A really extreme gust of winds just before the narrow ridge. Had to really hold on to your hats. Summit was calm, clear, and warm. Excellent climb. I truly live in God's country!

second time's the charm
My 10yo son and I attemted this 2 years ago when he was 8. He got sick at the saddle (from what he ate) so we descended. It was important for us to finish what we started, and we did... even though it was 2 years later. It was a windy day. We didn't stay on the summit long due to threatening weather.
Fun hike but this mountain is completely tore up. There are about a half dozen trails that lead up and down and there is significant mining damage. Still a fun morning!

From Leavick
Went with Fortin; went over to White Ridge and then down the slope back to the car.
Weather forecast was calling for 50+ mph winds kicking up after mid-morning and I just hadn't acclimatized myself well enough after one day at altitude. I changed my target to the saddle and got some great pictures then headed down to Fourmile Creek as the clouds started to build. I'll be back, Sherman!
Nice hike/climb in a fresh snow, my dog loved it, but was getting burried.

Easy and fun
A fun climb - there was an abnormally large snowfall that year, with a lot remaining even in August, so we got a nice glissade for part of the way down.

First 14 - Age 6
Four notable memories from this 1985 climb:
1. We had cheese on the top
2. It was very windy and my mom thought I was going to get blown off the top
3. I insisted on carrying this rock I found at the mine at the trailhead and I carried it all the way up!
4. I was a little altitude sick on the top.

Sherman winter ascent
Overnighted it in the bivy sack with Nick aka Dude That Must Hurt and the other Nick. Woke up to a -12 degree morning and a nice breakfast before heading up. Was nice to be at 14K for the first time since September and was very nice to get a 2nd winter ascent of a 14er.

Four Mile
Rush, Astrobassman and I made good time up this rock pile with heavy packs as part of our Denali 09 training. It is not a 'pretty' mountain with all the mining destruction. A great way to kick off the first full day of Spring.

Winter Ascent 09
Climbed Via Four Mile Creek Trail.
Started friday 3-13-09 7pm on trail 1.5 miles from Leavick Mine we THINK @ 11,000' even. we feel it was close enough for the 3000' gain, Bivyed @ 11,800' started @ 9:30am on trail & hit summit @ 12:05pm on the 14'th. Great "winter" ascent for 2009 and good start to the 14'r season for me for 09
