Lost and Found  Sucess!

I was climbing East Sleeper on Wednesday the 18th and found an electronic device on the Blueberry Ledges Trail on the east flank of Whiteface at about 5 PM in the afternoon. PM me directly and tell me what it was with an address and I'll mail it back to you.

Sultry day  Sucess!

First of two summits for the day. It was pretty hot and humid which seemed to leave me gassed a bit as I made my way up the ledge trail. There were a few spicy sections near the top that were unexpected and fun. I went over to Passaconaway afterward.

Two of Two for the Day  Sucess!

After doing Passaconaway. Dissappointing viewless summit was made up for by the rocky area to the south. Then a fun scramble down granite slabs. Ended up being a nice sunny day.

Ice ledges  Sucess!

Took Blueberry Ledge trail from Ferncroft. Saw moose during a short break for water. Moose stood 30 feet from us, staring, then ran off. Snow and ice on top half of mountain. Very icy and challenging scrambles up icy rocks and even trickier going down. Fun, challenging hike would love to repeat in summer! 3 hrs up, 2 down.

Double Shot  Sucess!

I went up Whiteface via the Blueberry Ledges, which was one of the more challenging hikes in the Whites than you would expect. It was fun though, because you get some pretty darn good views along the way. I then took the Rollins Trail over to Passaconaway.

Mount Whiteface  Sucess!

Climbed with Passaconaway via the Dicey's Mill Trail from Ferncroft. A very long traverse between the two peaks. Great views of the Ossipee Range and the Winnipesaukee Region from the ledges below the summit. It would be nice if someone put a sign up on the true summit so at least you would know it when you get there.

Whiteface / Passaconaway Loop  Sucess!

Hiked up the Blueberry Ledge Trail, hot and muggy, as I climbed the mountain I would walk in and out of different temperature zones alternating between hot and muggy and cool and breezy. Stopped and hung out for a few minutes at the South Peak before heading over to Passaconaway on the Rollins Trail. It looks like there are a lot of nice campsites pretty high up on the mountain. Between the South Peak and the true Summit (I believe at the site of one of the old shelters) there was a semi temporary shelter setup. There was a heavy duty tarp strung up between two trees with some tools underneath it and what appeared to be other camping gear stashed up in a tree a couple hundred feet away. I am not sure if it is supposed to be a semi permanent low impact shelter or if it is something trail work crews had setup while they were working. I saw two trail work crews while I was hiking so I might lean towards the later explanation.
