Well done page. White Butte was in need of inclusion on this site, despite its ease of ascent. The white chalk (bentonite clay) features north of the highpoint are quite interesting. Walked up there in July of this year.

I walked up this Butte on May 31, 2015, and at that time it appeared that the farm is no longer occupied. It's been mentioned in the write up that the Dennis own the land, and also that a Ms. VanDaele was charging $20/car. It seems the charge no longer applies. The drivable track that leads to the old house (where the walking trail starts) has a sign before it that says road closed. We drove it anyways and parked at the old house. The main farm house (a bright blue color) appeared to be boarded up, and no one was around for us to ask permission from.
Long-identified as 3507 feet in elevation, as anyone who has been there can attest (I was in 1986) the survey post stands a good foot above the surface. Most references I see now acknowledge 3506, and given the soft white materials of the peak, it will likely soon be 3505.

Untitled CommentI tried finding this peak on my own with just a state map.. I'm still not sure whether I climbed this one or a nearby Butte.. they all look alike!
